Unit 3 Section 2 : Plotting Points

In this section you will see how to plot points on a graph.

The x number comes first then the y number:

( x , y )
These numbers are called coordinates.

Example Question

Look at the graph below. Five points have been plotted on the grid. To get to point C you need to go 6 along in the x direction and 4 up in the y direction, so the coordinates of point C are ( 6 , 4 ).

Question 3
In this question you are going to plot some points on a set of axes. You click on the graph to plot a point using the coordinates in the table on the left. Then you check to see if you have plotted the point correctly by clicking on the button. If you plotted the point correctly, it will be ticked and will appear. If you see a cross on the point then you have made a mistake and must try again. You can remove points you have plotted incorrectly by clicking on them for a second time.
