Unit 22 Section 1 : Volume using the Unit Cube

This section introduces the idea of volume by counting up how many 1 cm cubes there are in a solid.

The 1 cm cube
The volume of this cube is 1 cm³ (1 cubic centimetre)

Example
We want to find the volume of this solid:

We can see that this solid is made up of five 1 cm cubes like the one above.
The volume of the solid is 5 cm³ (5 cubic centimetres).
