Unit 13 Section 4 : Two-dimensional Number Patterns
This section looks at 2-dimensional number patterns. One of the most famous of these is Pascal's triangle.
Pascal's Triangle
These are the first 4 rows of Pascal's triangle.
You can see that the first and last numbers in each row are always 1.
The other numbers are found by adding together the two numbers that are diagonally above them in the previous row.
For example, the left-hand "3" in the diagram above is found by adding together the 1 and the 2 in the row above.

Other Triangular Patterns
Look at the three triangles below:
You can see that every number in the first row of each diagram is a 1.
All the other numbers in the diagrams are found by adding the two numbers in the row above.
